Shelby {Yazoo Senior Portrait Photographer}...

There are really no words to describe how easy this shoot was. Shelby is a 2012 Benton Academy Senior and is probably one of the sweetest girls I have ever met! She was so relaxed in front of the camera, minus the few times she tried not to laugh, ha. If she was nervous, you certainly could not tell from the images we captured...

Senior Special {Madison Senior Portrait Photographer}

It's already started....Senior Portrait bookings! This will be my last senior special before my packaging and prices change, so this is the perfect time to go ahead and schedule your session.

Senior sessions are $150 and last approximately 2 hours, allowing for outfit/location changes. If you book by June 30 you will receive a $50 print credit! And if you follow me, you know that I rarely offer print credits, so you'll want to jump on this one.

Sessions do not have to take place by June 30. Your session can be scheduled to take place between now and March 1, 2012, but to take advantage of this special, I will need to have you on the books and receive your session fee by June 30 to hold your spot. I am currently booking 4-6 weeks out on Senior Sessions.

Anabella {Madison Children's Photographer}

Obviously, I have gotten behind on the blog, since I haven't posted anything since March. That's what a busy spring will do for you.

I have several posts coming soon....one of which will be next week regarding Senior Sessions. That's right! I will be running my last Senior Session Special before my new pricing goes into effect, so keep an eye out for that!

I have noticed that I sometimes group several subjects into one post. I will probably continue to do that with such items as updates, deadlines, policies, etc., but will make an effort to not do so with client sneak peeks (except for this post, ha!).

So, meet Anabella. What a fun little girl! We held her session during the morning hours to avoid the sweltering Mississippi heat, but we failed. It was still hot and muggy and sticky and all that goes along with the south. But she was a trooper and we got lots of great shots.

Anabella, I hope you and your mom, Amber, had fun! Can't wait to do it again:) Here are a few of my favorites:

Mini-Sessions and Cupcakes...

Oh, I cannot BELIEVE that I have neglected my blog for more than 3 months! In all fairness, 6 weeks of the 3 months I was on my annual holiday hiatus.

Recently, I have been working on several commercial projects. Also, I have an issue of the AGP newsletter about to go out with info regarding upcoming spring mini-sessions. A special mini-session package price will be available to newsletter recipients, so if you haven't joined, now would be a great time. Just fill out the form on the right.

2011 Spring Mini-Session dates are March 25/26 and April 15/16. Availability on the March dates is very limited and will book the quickest. Mini-Sessions are $30 and include 15 minutes of shoot time and 5x7 of your choice. If you want to go ahead and book your appointment prior to receiving the newsletter to get on the books, you will still get the newletter special if you are signed up before it is sent out.

Now, on to the "cupcakes" part of the post. As I mentioned, I have recently been working on a few commercial projects, one of which is for the newly opened Madison Cupcake Company (in Madison, of course).

The Madison Cupcake Company is located in the Colony Crossing Shopping Center beside Pizza Inn, and owner Laina Woodard Smith makes the yummiest cupcakes, cakes and cookies. Check out her website at www.madisoncupcakecompany.com. She also does wedding cakes (hint, hint to my brides) and birthday cakes, and does awesome sugar work and molding. Here are a few images from the shoot....I will definitely be taking Sadie during spring break for a scrumptious treat. Oh, and the white chocolate cherry cookies....DIVINE!

Ashleigh {Madison Central Senior}...

Oh, Ashleigh! I had sooo much fun photographing you.

Ashleigh is a senior at Madison Central and she is awesome! She is super duper smart (a National Merit Scholar), hilarious (or maybe she was just laughing at me, not with me), and beautiful (as you will see). We ventured around Madison County and ended our day on the football field at Madison Central. Needless to say, we got a ton of great images and I, of course, had the practically impossible task of choosing what to post.

I had a blast spending the afternoon with you, Ashleigh (and your mom...shout out to Tracy)! I can't wait to go through all of the great images we captured. Oh, and CONGRATULATIONS!

The Willifords...

Shelby {Yazoo County Senior}...

So, I am completely booked for the rest of 2010 and winding the year down! Now, meet Shelby, another Yazoo senior. Shelby is fun, sassy, charming and hilarious! Shelby was willing to hop in my car and roam around Madison county, looking for some fun shooting spots. She had me laughing the entire time, and I am so glad she was wearing boots, because I had her walk through some questionable areas. I am almost positive that I heard a snake or some other form of creepy animal in the tall grass. And I didn't wear boots!

Tara {Yazoo County Senior}...

Oh, Tara! You sure know how to work the camera!

Tara is a Senior at Yazoo County High School and, as you will see, is just beautiful! Tara was so laid back and fun, no wonder we got so many fantastic images:)

Tara, thank you so much for braving the bugs nipping at your legs and for wearing a wool coat dress in 85 degree weather. And, I promise, we got lots more images of you smiling, but I can only post so many on the blog and these were the first few that I edited. It's practically impossible to choose when almost every image is blog-worthy!

First, I want to remind everyone about the October Greeting Card Special. If you purchase more than one set, the second set is 30% off and the third set is 50% off. This special applies to one greeting card design and orders placed in October only.

Notes and Deadlines:

I have clients asking for more mini-sessions. If you are interested in a mini-session, please email me. I will be setting aside 1 more day for mini-sessions only for those who are asking for a slot. Please email me by Monday, October 18 if you want to be included.

The deadline for ordering greeting cards is Friday, November 19.

The deadline for ordering prints for holiday delivery is Friday, December 3.

I have a few Memphis sessions available during the first week of November. These will go fast, so email me asap if you want a spot.

I have about 4 openings left for the rest of the year for full sessions, including mornings. Please keep this in mind if you want to book a session.

The 2011 Pricing Guide will be released January 1.

Also, I have been asked if I will post previews of mini-sessions on the blog. The holiday season is so busy and with the number of clients who booked mini-sessions or full sessions for holiday images, it would be very difficult for me to post for each and every client. Over the next few weeks as I am placing orders and winding down for the holidays, I will possibly include some choice images in a blog post.

Now, on to Lori. I promised Lori I would blog about her recent session. Lori is a senior at Benton Academy and she came to Jackson for her shoot. I think Lori laughed the entire time we were shooting....she was so sweet and willing to do anything I asked her to do, except not smile:) I had a great time, Lori. I can't wait to get your gallery uploaded for you but, until then, here are a few previews.

One more note: I currently schedule sessions in the Jackson area, Memphis and Tupelo. I have had requests to travel to areas such as Hattiesburg, Biloxi, Mobile and Birmingham, to name a few, and would love to set up session dates. 2010 Greeting Cards...

Yes! They are ready....the new 2010 Greeting Cards. Rather than post them all on the blog (which would require a lot of scrolling for you due to the blog design...I promise I am working on a new blog), I have posted all of the available options to a gallery on my website. Right now, they are in a password protected gallery, so please email me for the password.

All 2010 designs are 5x7 with front and back designs. You may use an image from any session(s) this year or a recent mini-session for greeting card orders.

Justin {Benton Academy Senior}...

Bless your heart, Justin. You are so sweet and laid back. You were willing to do anything I asked you to do, even fight off wasps.

Justin is a senior at Benton Academy and is just an all around great guy, not to mention, an incredible athlete. I'm sure that after this post a mad frenzy of Justin groupies will ensue, but you probably won't mind:)

I am so glad I had the opportunity to meet and photograph you. Congratulations on your upcoming graduation! I know your family is so proud of you:)

Holiday Mini-Sessions Set for September 25...

UPDATE: The following information was included in the AGP newsletter, so there are now only a couple of mini-session times available. Once all spots are full, I will consider an additional date and start a waiting list.

It is hard to believe, but the holidays are quickly approaching. In order to keep my sanity I will not be doing any Child/Family, Senior, Bridal, or Engagement Sessions in the month of December. The only sessions available will be newborn or pre-scheduled first year sessions and weddings. All sessions from which you wish to order greeting cards or prints for Christmas delivery will have to take place by November 20. All holiday orders (greeting cards and prints) must be ordered by December 4 to ensure on-time delivery.

Along these lines, I have set aside 1 day for the popular Holiday Mini-Sessions, Saturday September 25 from 4:00p to 6:00p.

Here's how the Mini-Sessions work:

*Sessions are 20 minutes long and run back to back, so if you are 5 minutes late for your session, then you will only receive 15 minutes of shoot time. I have to hold fast to this as I have gotten backed up in the past. Even if the following appointment is (for example) 5 minutes late, your session will still be 20 minutes, not 25.

*Sessions are for families of 5. If your family includes 6 or more members to be photographed will require more shoot time and you will need to book 2 back to back mini-sessions or just a regular portrait session. Please contact me with any questions.

*I will shoot subjects as a group first and then, if time permits, will shoot individuals.

*Sessions book quickly and payment is required before your slot can be held, so keep this in mind when mailing your session fee. You will be provided with payment info, deadlines and location upon booking.

*Should we experience inclimate weather, I will re-schedule mini-session based on the order in which they were initially booked.

*To book your mini-session, please email me at agphotography@bellsouth.net and include your NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER, NUMBER OF SUBJECTS AND AGES, AND PREFERRED SHOOT TIME. I will do my best to accommodate you with your requested time but, again, bookings are made on a first come first serve basis.

Maryn Rhodes....

Every newborn session is different. Many times the baby will sleep during most of the session, allowing me to mold and shape them into the poses I want to capture. This was not the case during my session with little Maryn Rhodes (or MR as I will henceforth refer to her;).

MR is barely 10 days old. She came to Kellye and Bryan a little earlier than expected, at less than 5 lbs, which makes her the tiniest baby I have photographed to date. However, this little one already has a big personality. She did not sleep a wink through the ENTIRE session! Not to mention, she continually tried to turn over. Yes!!! Turn over!!! And she has a grip and a kick that is almost unbelievable.

Regardless, we were still able to capture lots of sweet images. Maybe not of a sleeping baby, but a of a precious, bright-eyed bundle of joy.

On a side note, I had the pleasure of photographing Kellye and Bryan's wedding in Orange Beach almost 2 years ago, and am so happy that I was able to photograph their new little angel.

I already use this blog, my website, Facebook, and Twitter to keep everyone updated on AGP happenings, but it seems that some info is slipping through the cracks. Just a couple of days ago I had a client contact me saying that she missed my post about Destin Beach Sessions last week. This did not make me happy:(

"Why don't I just send out mass emails to those in my address book?", you ask. Well, I really do not want to send unwanted or unsolicited emails to those who do not want to participate. No one likes to receive emails that they do not want and I do not want to be one of "those" businesses.

To try to rectify all of the above, I am creating the Aynsley Gibson Photography Newsletter. I do not want to say that newsletters will go out weekly or even monthly, or make any such promises as when to expect the latest edition because, let's face it, there are times when the blog doesn't get updated as often as I would like. However, each edition will include special information such as events, promotions, dates and deadlines, photography tips and tricks, etc.

Don't worry, I will still post the same information on the blog as well as Facebook, but those who are registered for the newsletter will be the first to know of specials and so forth, and will get first dibs.

Holiday Mini-Sessions...

Yep, it's still 100+ degrees outside, but it is also time to start scheduling Holiday Mini-Sessions. If you are new to Mini-Sessions, they are just shorter versions of a regular session used mainly to capture images to be used for holiday greeting cards, however, you can book a mini-session for any reason. Sessions run back to back and are limited in availability.

I have set aside 1 date so far to schedule mini-sessions, Saturday, September 25 from 4:00p-6:00p. As soon as these time slots fill, I will consider opening up more, but I do have to limit the number of mini-sessions I take on this year in order to keep my sanity.

The location is TBD and I will post mini-session rules and pricing shortly, but I wanted to go ahead and give a heads up so you can mark your calendars:)

John Philip {Benton Academy Senior}...

Oh, John Philip, what a hot day to have your senior portraits taken! If I remember correctly, the heat index that day was 115! You were great about it, though, and we got lots of awesome images. I think we made the right decision in shooting the rest when it cools off a little.

John Philip is a senior at Benton Academy and I think his mom, Livvi, is on pins and needles to see all of the images, so here is a quick peek with a couple of images that she hasn't seen as of yet:) Congratulations, JP!

Albums...

I have been asked several times about my wedding albums, particularly what a finished product looks like. I am in the process of putting together a sample album from the new company I have been using, but there are so many combinations of materials, colors, accents, etc., that it would be impossible for me to carry a sample of all options available.

I generally release albums to the customer without having the foresight to photograph the final product. Thank goodness I did get a few images from some recent albums to post as an example of the incredible products Forbeyon offers. So far, I have been extremely pleased with the customer service and the high-end, quality products I have received. I do have a couple of albums on the way, and will post pics of those as well once I receive them.

In the meantime, take a look at this beauty of a wedding album. The bride saw the combination of these colors/materials on the Forbeyon website and fell in love (and the main material on the album is called "Vixen"....love it!):

It is a 10x10 album...

...with flushmount pages...

...so the pages lay flat when opened.

The images are printed on thick, photographic stock.

See how the color pops on the cover image???

It is a metal cameo with an image printed on it! These cameos are awesome! And this album also has an accent strip of a contrasting color and material.

These last 2 images are not wedding albums, but rather the ever-so-popular Guest Book Album. I use images from a couple's engagement session and put them in a hardback, coffee-table-style album for guests to sign at the wedding, instead of the traditional guest album of blank lines that usually ends up stored somewhere, rarely (if ever) to be seen again.

This guest book doubles as a photo album as well, so you can leave it out for everyone to see. I leave blank areas throughout the album for wedding guests to sign and write well-wishes. Fun!

BRITTANY AND BRYANT: The Wedding

What a beautiful day for a wedding! Overcast skies (a photographer's dream) and a small shower helped to cool everyone off (at least a little) last Saturday.

Brittany and Bryant were married at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Madison, followed by a reception at the Jackson Yacht Club. Everything looked perfect, the food was delicious and the day went off without a hitch. They are now back from their honeymoon and I promised Brittany a little preview, so here goes:

SADIE: Part 1...

I finally had the opportunity to get some 5 year shots of my sweet Sadie. I cannot believe that she is 5 years old and will be going to kindergarten in a few short weeks. It's bittersweet, really. She is proving to be a very talented, funny, smart, strong and brave little girl. She is my heart.

Here is Part 1 of my Sadie post. Since I always have such a hard time deciding what to post from client sessions, I should have know it would be practically impossible for me to choose which images to post for Sadie.

Can it really be 6 weeks since my last post??? That goes to show you just how crazy the warm weather makes it around the Gibson household. The month of May alone seemed to fly. Just a little about what has been happening:

Sadie turned 5 and had a positive check-up with her endocrinologist and her pediatrician. We made our first family trip to Disney World. I have always wondered why people choose to make Disney an annual family event, but after watching Sadie have the time of her life, we are already planning our trip back. The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique was her favorite event and, if you can believe it or not, the Tower of Terror was her favorite ride. Who knew you only had to be 44 inches to ride! Unfortunately, because it was her favorite, mommy was dragged on it way to much. We went to Cocoa Beach for a little fun in the sun, too. I want to do as much with Sadie as I can this summer because she starts kindergarten in August and I really don't know where the past 5 years have gone!

At AGP, things have been hopping, as well. The past 2 weeks I have been consumed with playing catch up from my almost month-long vaca. Putting in orders for wedding and engagement albums have been on the forefront...2 more to go, yay! Unfortunately, between sessions and weddings I haven't found the time to keep the blog updated with fresh sneak peeks or my website calendar updated:( And not only is wedding season in full swing, I am about to hit the ground running on Senior Sessions.

So, let's start off the summer right with some perks for the Soon to be Wed and Seniors!

Weddings: Any 2010/2011 wedding booked between today and the end of summer (that's September 21, 2010) will receive a complimentary engagement session and a 2nd photographer the day of the wedding. That is a minimum value of $750. Please note: availability for the remainder of 2010 is very limited and bookings are secured only when deposit has been received and cleared.

Seniors: Any Senior Session booked between today and the end of summer (again, that ending date is September 21, 2010) will receive your choice of a Style Book with my favorite images from your session or a set of Style Cards to hand out to your friends, and a complimentary set of wallets with your portrait order. If you choose to receive the Style Cards and a friend presents your card when booking their own session, you will receive the benefits of a Senior Rep and your friend will receive a complimentary set of wallets with their portrait order. Please note: sessions booked are secured only by receipt and clearing of session fee, and session must take place prior to January 1, 2011.

The Aftermath...

The fact that I was able to capture the following images just breaks my heart. For those of you who do not know, I am from Yazoo City where a deadly tornado touched down on Saturday. Most of my family is still there. Fortunately, no one in my family was hurt, but the aftermath of what every Yazoo-an is dealing with is incredible. It is hard to take in. The landscape has completely changed. Sadly, there were some deaths and many injuries. The stories are horrific. To pull up to "Four Points", the main intersection as you enter Yazoo City from the south and the area that is shown on the news, and see orange signs that say "Disaster Area" is something no one wants to see. There is no way to describe it and, honestly, pictures and news reports can not accurately depict the destruction.

What is not being shown on the news are the small surrounding communities that were also hit. Zeiglerville, just northeast of Yazoo City, looks like a warzone. If you don't know, I am a Zeigler, and this is where our family homeplace and farm is located. There are so many people in that area that lost everything. Yazoo County is just not the same. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.

I went to my dad's yesterday and just started to cry as I topped the hill into that small community on Hwy 433. There is hardly a tree left on a road that was canopied by them. I thank the Lord that no one was harmed. Things can be replaced, loved ones can't.

Please continue to pray for all of those affected in the Yazoo area and the entire community as a whole. It is amazing how folks have pulled together to help one another. And for all of my friends that went to my dad's yesterday to help with the clean-up, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. For anyone who wants to help with the efforts, be it monetary, supplies, food, or search and rescue, the Yazoo City church of Christ is being used for distribution, as is the Red Cross, Salvation Army and MEMA.

Ratcliff for Judge...

Cohen...

Meet my little cousins, the Cohens. Andrea has been trying to get pics of the kids for quite a while and, although we didn't actually have a session, during yesterday's Easter festivities I was able to capture a couple of images. We'll try for a full round of pics in the near future:)

One Year...

I have had the pleasure of photographing this little guy since he was 2 weeks old and just cannot believe that he just had his first birthday. Saturday was the perfect day for a wedding. The weather was beautiful, but it couldn't hold a candle to Ashley. She and Brett were married in Yazoo City and it went off without a hitch.

We captured so many wonderful images, there is no way I can post all of my favorites and I have had to really narrow it down to just a couple. It is very difficult to choose what to post when the subjects are so photogenic. Ashley and Brett made my job so easy and the entire family and wedding party were incredibly easy to work with.

Mini-Sessions, Seniors and Weddings...

Wow! February was much busier for me than expected, so to make up for the lack of posts I am offering several specials.

Spring Mini-Sessions: This spring I am only able to work in 1 day of mini-sessions, Saturday April 17, 9am-10am and 4pm-5pm. Sessions are $30, are 20 minutes long and include a 5X7 print with your portrait purchase. Remember, these mini-sessions book quickly!

Seniors: For those 2010 Seniors who still need fun and stylish images, sessions held in March or April will receive $25 off session fee and a complimentary set of wallets with portrait order. I have been meaning to post about this for several weeks now but, as you know, things haven't gone as planned for me over the past month. Things are getting back to normal (whatever normal is), so here goes....As a photographer I like to follow a handful of other photogs that I admire. One such photographer is the amazing Kelly Moore Clark. She is definitely 1 of my top 3 faves.

My clients know that I carry a lens bag with me while I shoot. It is a pretty popular bag in the photography world and I like it fairly well. That being said, I am about to invest in a new bag. That is where Kelly Moore comes in. She has been working on her own design for a while now and it has finally come to life...the Kelly Moore Bag! It looks awesome! A Little Housekeeping...

So I am officially (but slowly) transitioning to a Mac. It will be a 50/50 business for a while as I will continue with my trusty Vaio laptop as a travel companion until she decides to retire. It is a transition my sister has been trying to get me to make for a while. Don't get me wrong, I still like pc's in general and if it weren't for this line of work, I would probably just stick with them. But, I have, unfortunately, had my fair share of viral infections of the pc over the past few years and would really rather not have to go back to the pc doctor for a long while. Besides, having the 2 computers will allow me to continue working should one require some tweaking and I won't get so far behind (wink, wink).

Now that the holidays are behind us, there are some updates and housekeeping that I would like you to know about:

1. I have said it the last 2 years and haven't followed through, but I will be taking the entire month of December 2010 off. My family is very lucky that there were gifts under the tree a month ago. Along with this, I will only be able to accept 1 wedding between the months of November and December.

2. Over the next couple of weeks I will be updating the calendar on my website with dates and deadlines that I have already set in place. This will include Saturday sessions. I will set aside 1 Saturday a month for sessions. Some months I may be available 2 Saturdays out of the month for sessions, but I will post those on the blog as well as on the website calendar. On Saturday session days, I will only be scheduling 2 sessions. Saturdays always book quickly, so if you are interested please contact me as soon as possible to get on the books.

3. I will be doing spring mini-sessions and fall mini-sessions. I will be posting info on the blog soon regarding the spring mini-sessions. These also fill quickly, especially the Saturday mini-sessions.

4. I have been asked about blogging sessions and how I choose which sessions to post. There is no rhyme or reason to this process. When I get the opportunity to sit down and blog a session sneak peek I usually just post the session I am currently editing. Generally, if you are a first time client or on the baby plan, I will post a peek of your session. Some blog postings show a peek of 2 or 3 images while others may show 6 or more images. This all relates to the amount of blogging time I have at that particular moment:)

5. I am still getting requests for a photography workshop. I blogged about this a couple of months ago, and then the holidays rolled around and yadda, yadda, yadda (my throwback to Seinfeld). Anyway, I am still considering this. It would be a small and intimate group workshop to allow all questions to be asked and answered, so registration would be limited. We would learn about the features of your DSLR camera, what they do and how/when to use them, shooting techniques and even touch on how I use photoshop during editing. If you are interested, just drop me a line at agphotography@bellsouth.net .

Brittany + Bryant {The Engagement}

Brittany and Bryant are tying the knot this summer and chose to have their engagement pics taken in the winter as to have a mix of seasons in their image collection. Well, we shot on one of the coldest days this year, if not ever, ha! If I remember correctly, it was 22 with a windchill of around 10....WOW! They were troopers but. I'm not so sure I have all of the feeling back in my fingertips yet. At one point, Brittany's teeth were actually chattering....bless her heart!

Happy New Year...

Well, the last week of my holiday vacation was not as enjoyable as it should have been due to a viral infection in my computer. I thought I would get a jumpstart on the new year and get ahead of my game, but my trusty sidekick named Vaio had other plans. So I took her to the doctor and she has made a full recovery however, I have decided to go ahead and jump on the Mac bandwagon. My trusty Vaio will still be with me, mainly as a travel companion, but during the transition I will probably be running at about half speed. That being said, not only did I NOT get a jump on the new year and start off ahead, I am already about a week or so farther behind than expected;)

I was about to post this preview last week when Vaio started having trouble. This is Brown. He is Jessica and Aaron's newest little addition. He is such a little roly poly and as cute as can be. I think he will be his older bother's "Mini Me".

9 months...

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and will have a safe and happy new year. I will be traveling once again and when I return it will be 2010 and time to review some of my policies. One of the changes I have decided to make is to only accept 1 wedding betweeen the months of November and December, and otherwise go into hibernation for the entire month of December:) This is so I will be able to maintain some semblance of sanity during the rush of the holidays.

Before heading out of town, I wanted to post one last little preview for 2009. Remember Rhys? He is now 9 months and he braved the colds of December with me to get these shots.

Casey + Jeremy { Wedding }

I thought I would make one last post before Christmas....Casey and Jeremy were married 2 weeks ago in Benton and I'm a little partial to this post because my sweet Sadie was a flower girl. Oh, Ashley....you sure can work the camera and you don't even know it! Ok, the announcement is not so much of an announcement, but rather something I am thinking of doing....A Photography 101 Workshop. I have been approached by some interested parties regarding this and I want more feedback. The workshop would be for those who own a digital SLR and want to learn how to shoot with modes other than auto. If you have (or haven't) heard of terms like f-stop, aperature, bokeh or ISO and would like to know what they mean and how they work, this would be the workshop for you. We would also do some shooting with models and practice composition, techniques and possibly a mini-photoshop tutorial. The workshop would be limited in registration for a more comfortable learning experience.

Please leave a comment or email me if you would be interested in attending an AGP workshop. Again, it is not set in stone, I am just trying to see what interest is out there. If you are interested, I will put you on the newsletter list to contact you once a Workshop is in the works so you will have the opportunity to register before it is formally announced to the public.

Casey + Jeremy {Engagement}

Casey + Jeremy will be getting married in December and we took a small window of opportunity between rain showers to get some engagement shots. They braved the weather and swarms of mosquitos on some family land in Holmes County for these. Congratulations, guys! Can't wait until the wedding:)

Holiday Mini-Sessions and Ordering Deadlines

I can't believe how quickly this year has flown! The holiday portrait season is well underway and I have set my dates for mini-sessions. Holiday mini-sessions are just shorter versions of my portrait sessions and a great way to get images for greeting cards. Greeting card designs will be posted on the website in early October.

This year's mini-sessions will take place on the square in Canton. Mini-sessions are $30 and include 20 minutes of shoot time, a 5x7 print and 10% off orders placed by October 23. You will have access to your private, online gallery for 30 days.

Although many clients book mini-sessions to get images primarily for greeting cards, I suggest wearing general clothing. It is a personal choice, but general clothing is suitable for images to be displayed any time of year. However, holiday clothing is always welcome.

Mini-session dates:

Friday, September 25, 4:00-6:00

Saturday, September 26, 4:00-6:00

Friday, October 2, 4:00-6:00

The rules:
-Sessions are booked every 20 minutes beginning at 4:00, ie: 4:00, 4:20, 4:40, 5:00, etc..
- Please be on time. Due to the shorter sessions booked back to back, we must stay on schedule.
- If more that 2 subjects are being photographed, the session will focus on the group as a whole rather than individual subjects. Should you want individual photos of more than 2 subjects, you must book additional session time.
-Since we will be shooting at an outdoor location, infants will be laying on the ground. I will bring a couple of suitable blankets for sessions on the grass at the square, however, if you want to ensure color flow with your outfits, please bring a blanket/ground covering that will blend with your color scheme. For urban looks on the outskirts of the square, I will not be using blankets as it takes away from the urban look, so please keep that in mind. For those looks, children will be sitting directly on concrete.
-Mini-session fees must be received at least 2 days prior to appointment date or your time will be released as available to other clients. Fees are not refundable, but I will be glad to reschedule your mini-session to another available time or apply fee to a full session within 3 months.
-Should a rainout occur, I will reschedule sessions in the order they were initially booked.

Deadlines:

October 23 - To receive 10% discount, your order must be placed by this date.

November 18 - To ensure delivery in time for you to mail out, greeting card orders must be received by this date.

December 4 - To ensure delivery prior to Christmas, please place your print order by this date.

Things are buzzin'...

Lots of things are happening at AGP. First of all, my wedding specials will expire August 31 and my pricing structure for AGP services will change as my new investment guide will be released on Sept. 1. My aim is to make things easier, especially for my brides, and no longer offer package pricing that includes things you may or may not be interested in.

On top of that, I am doing design work, working on a new blog and am about to kick off the holiday season. That's right! It's holiday session time again.

Sept. 1 starts my holiday season and I will be scheduling a couple of days for mini-sessions. Mini-sessions are a great way to have images made for holiday greeting cards, however, you may order holiday greeting cards from any session that has taken place this year or an upcoming session that will be proofed prior to the card ordering deadline. I will be posting dates for mini-sessions, session deadlines and holiday ordering deadlines on the blog as well as on my website calendar. I will also be scheduling dates for Tupelo sessions for those interested.

This year's greeting card designs will be posted on my website in early October. Sizing options have changed a little this year as I will not be offering custom designed 4x8 photo cards. Greeting cards are available in 5x5 flat, 5x7 flat and 5x7 folded.

I know, I haven't been posting many pics lately...I'll have to work on that:) Yesterday I had a session with some of my favorite clients. This family is so easy to work with, which always helps to make the shoot fun. Little "J" just had his first birthday....I can't believe that it has been a year since our first shoot. He has changed soooo much from his 6 month pics, but the one thing that hasn't changed are those piercing blue eyes! Bethany, John, and "J", thanks for being great troopers on such a hot day :)

On a side note, I have decided to extend my wedding special on my current wedding packages until August 31. My 2010 Pricing Guide will be released on September 1 and, at that time, the new pricing will go into effect.

Ok, I neglected to include this little tidbit of info in the last post. So, instead of editing the last post, I decided to do an ADDENDUM post:) This way, those who have already ready my SPECIALS post will not miss out.

I am currently working on 2010 Portrait and Wedding Pricing. This pricing will go into effect approximately September 1, 2009. Once released, current pricing will go into the "price vault".

For weddings that are booked prior to the release of the new pricing guide, your package/print prices will remain the same as at the time of booking and print prices will be valid for 1 year from the date wedding is booked or 3 months following wedding.

For portrait sessions booked prior to the release of the new pricing guide, current print pricing will be valid until your proofing gallery expires. For portrait clients currently under contract (ie: baby planners) or those who are contracted prior to the release of the new pricing guide, current print pricing will apply until your final gallery expires.

Updates and Specials....

Well, things have been busy at AGP and around the Gibson household. We started seeing a new Pediatric Endocrinologist in Memphis a few weeks ago and so far, so good. She has already signed off on a pump for Sadie and the pump company has already confirmed shipment! Hopefully we will be up and running on a pump in the next few weeks. Sadie chose the pump we ordered (she insisted that this was the one she wanted), so we are keeping our fingers crossed that it is the right one for us! We just returned from another trip to Memphis to get Sadie on a continuous glucose monitor sensor for a few days. It records her blood sugar every minute to give the doctor more insight into how her sugars fluctuate throughout the day so that she will know how to program the insulin schedule into her pump.

On the AGP side of things, I have been very busy with proofing in between trips to Memphis. I have not offered any specials in the last few months, so I will do one for Seniors and Brides in July.

SENIORS: Schedule your Senior Session in the month of July and receive $25 off your session fee and a complimentary set of wallets with your order. To receive offer, your signed portrait agreement and session fee must be received prior to July 31 and your session must be held by August 31.

I have the same problem after every shoot...deciding on my faves. This time was no exception. All of the images were so cute, but the subject is to blame. This was my second time to photograph little "F" and I am already looking forward to the next time. Partly because he is so incredibly adorable, and partly because he will soon be a big brother! I have been taking this one's pics for a while now and I can't believe how big she is getting. When I told Sadie who I was going to photograph she responded with "You mean the baby that can't talk yet?" It was then that I had to explain to her that babies don't stay babies, they grow up. I am going to be working on a project for which I will need a few models of various ages, male and female. I am still working to determine shoot dates, but there will possibly be 2. One will definately be in the Jackson-Metro area and the other to possibly be on our family farm in Holmes County. It is not necessary that you be available or able to travel to both shoots.

If chosen, you will be required to sign a model release. For your time, you will be compensated with a $100 print credit to be used toward prints from the session. You may purchase additional prints at regular prices.

I mentioned in the last post that I would be releasing a new wedding package...The Ultimate Wedding. This will be a somewhat "all-inclusive" package and will include something that I have never before offered with a wedding or portrait session...images on cd.

I will be releasing the Ultimate Wedding package this Friday, January 23. Due to the fact that I only book 2 weddings a month and 2009 is starting to fill up, I will be limiting this Ultimate Wedding package to the first 5 brides that book the package for 2009. This does not include brides who have already reserved their wedding date with me for 2009. For those brides, please contact me if you would like to upgrade your pacakge and I will be glad to make that change for you.

With that being said, I would like to offer a BLOG ONLY SPECIAL in honor of Valentines Day! This special will be released Friday, along with the Ultimate Wedding details, and will expire on February 28.

A great BIG "Thank You" to all of my clients for making 2008 such a great year for Aynsley Gibson Photography! My business is growing like wildfire and 2009 is already looking great! I am preparing new specials and products, and getting ready to hit the ground running.

Policies and Changes for 2009:
1. Previews for Portrait Sessions (including bridal and engagement sessions) will be posted in your secure, online gallery approximately 2 weeks following your session. This has not changed. What has changed is that your gallery will now remain online for 30 days. Orders placed within the first 10 days of your gallery activation will receive a 10% discount. Discounts do not apply to gallery wrapped canvas, storyboards, custom design work, or albums.

2. Previews for Weddings will be posted to your gallery approximately 30 days following the event. These images will be posted for 90 days. Orders placed within 30 days of your gallery activation will receive a 10% discount. Discounts do not apply to gallery wrapped canvas, storyboards, custom design work, or albums.

3. If you would like to extend your gallery viewing time, you are allowed a 1 time extension of 30 days for $25. Extension payment must be made prior to gallery expiration.

4. Orders placed while gallery is active will be archived for 1 year from the date of your session/event and will be available for re-orders. If your order is not placed while your gallery is active, your images will be permanently deleted from my system.

5. There will be a minimum charge of $25 for custom design work for storyboards, greeting cards, announcements, etc. Templates that I have pre-designed will not incur the custom design charge.

6. All fees, services and products are subject to 7% MS state sales tax.

Wedding Changes for 2009:
1. I currently have 3 wedding packages to choose from but am in the process of putting together a wedding package that includes a disc of hi-res images. This is the only time I have ever offered hi-res images for purchase. I will be releasing this package soon. If you have already booked your wedding with me an would like to upgrade your package choice, please let me know and I will be glad to make that change for you.

2. In an effort to still schedule my monthly Saturday Sessions, Weddings and still have time to spend with my family, I will be limiting the number of Weddings per month to 2. I will try to keep my online calendar updated, but if you are interested in a particular date that is blocked out or you are unsure if I am available on your date, please contact me. I will be glad to take a second look at my schedule.

3. Wedding dates book quickly, upwards of a year or more in advance. Wedding dates are reserved on a first come, first serve basis. I cannot guarantee a date will be reserved for you until I have received your signed wedding agreement and $500 deposit. I will "pencil you in" for your wedding date once I have mailed your wedding agreement to you. I have to receive your agreement and deposit within 10 days from the postmark date or your date will be released as open.

Ok, you may have noticed that I have been M.I.A. the last couple of weeks, but not without a valid reason. Not only is the holiday portrait season coming to a head, we also found out 2 weeks ago that our little girl has diabetes. I had no idea that it could come out of nowhere, with no family history, not to mention she is only 3 years old. Who knew?!

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone (family, friends and clients) for their prayers, kind words and concern for our family. Sadie is doing as well as can be expected considering the complete change in the way her world revolved. Finger pricks are much easier than they were 2 weeks ago and hopefully the shots will get easier soon, too. The diet...well, for a child who eats very sporadically, we're hanging in there. I am slowly coming around, but still have my weak moments.

I am currently playing catch-up and hope to be up to date with everything very soon. Thank you, again, for your prayers and please continue to remember us as we try to adjust to our new way of life (fingers crossed for a cure!).

Well, it has been very busy lately and I have let the blog slide a little. In turn, I have neglected to announce that November 1 was set as the last date for holiday mini-sessions. I set this date to ensure that greeting card orders would be delivered in time for holiday mailing.

I still have a few mini-session openings for November 1, but due to the last minute date announcement, I will also open appointments on Saturday, November 15, for first 3 mini-sessions booked. I will not be able to hold any holiday sessions after this date due to turn-around time for holiday delivery.

November 15 is also the deadline for full session clients wanting holiday delivery. If you would like to schedule a full session for holiday portraits, please schedule your session to be held prior to November 15.

Due to limited availability, if you would like to schedule a mini-session for November 1 or November 15, please contact me as soon as possible.

Mr. GQ and Saturday Sessions

This one is definately a natural! His mom got in some shots too, so you can see where he got it from. I generally don't do a lot of posing, but he went straight to work hammin' it up for the camera. And I love the freckles. He was truly Mr. GQ.

My next Saturday set aside for sessions and holiday mini-sessions is October 18. As of right now, the location for the mini-sessions will be the Canton square. There are only 6 appointments available, so if you are interested please contact me asap. There will only be 1 more Saturday for sessions this year, which will be in November (TBA).

Direct from Orange Beach...

We made it back from Pensacola and Orange Beach! The weather was great (most of the time)! There was a chance for rain on Saturday, but it turned out perfect for Kellye and Brian's wedding. Woohoo! Here are a few pics from some beach sessions and the wedding.

This pic of my family was taken mid-morning which is not the best time to be photographed, especially on the beach, but we were so busy with everything else that we neglected to do our pic until right before departing. It was overcast all morning until we got ready to take the pic...my luck! But, it turned out anyway. Wow, is it hard to set the pic, set the timer and run into position in the sand before the shutter clicks! My calves are sore. Next time I will use a remote release!

My first Holiday Mini-Session date is this Saturday, the 27th. The next date is tentatively set for Saturday, October 18. I am limiting the number of sessions on this day to 6, so call me asap if you are interested.

I have been asked many times about accepting credit cards and have managed to hold off for a while, but I guess it is that time. I am now accepting credit card payments via Paypal! Woohoo!

Here's how it will work. You contact me with your order and I will send you a Paypal invoice via e-mail. Once your payment has cleared I will process your order. Credit card payments may be made for print services only, not session fees. Session fees must still be paid by cash, money order or check at this time. There is a 5% convenience charge on orders paid using a credit card.

I recently posted about my holiday mini-session dates. In a few days, when I post the sneak peak of the 2008 greeting card designs, I will also be posting my mini-session package special. This year is flying by! It is already time to start thinking about holiday portraits and greeting cards.

My holiday session season will officially begin on September 22. This is when I return from end of summer beach sessions and will be ready to roll with holiday sessions.

The deadline for holiday sessions is November 7 and the deadline for ordering holiday cards and portraits is November 21. These deadlines are set to allow time for online proofing, purchase decisions and on-time delivery of holiday orders.

I will be setting one date each month through the holiday season for my holiday mini-sessions. These are 20-30 minute sessions that are perfect for those looking for images to use primarily for greeting card orders. Session fee must be received in order to hold scheduled session time. Portrait order minimums apply.

The first mini-session date is set for Saturday, September 27, location TBA soon. These sessions are limited in number and, as always, will be scheduled on a first come - first serve basis. For those interested in a regular full session on a Saturday, I will be scheduling those on this date as well.

Here's the exciting news. I mentioned in the previous post that I would be doing some session give-aways. I will be giving away 1 mini-session from each mini-session date that I set, so there will be 3 session give-aways. I have structured this give-away so that it would be fair across the board to new and existing clients alike. Let me explain how this will work. You schedule your session as usual by paying your sessin fee to hold your spot. Once all mini-sessions are completed on that date, I will randomly select a name to receive the session give-away for that date. The session fee that you paid to reserve your session will then go straight toward your portrait/card order.

So to re-cap the dates:
Monday, September 22 - Official holiday season kick-off

Saturday, September 27 - First holiday mini-session date and give-away

Friday, November 7 - Deadline for holiday sessions

News: 1. It may be hard to believe, but the holiday portrait season is quickly approaching. September through November are crazy busy for holiday sessions. I will be posting in the next few days about 2008 specials and deadlines, so keep an eye out! 2. I am planning some session give-aways...more to come on that. 3. Besides the beach sessions, I will be working on other travel locations for portrait sessions. Any suggestions, let me know.

I'll close this post with a pic, but let me set it up. I did a session for my friend Renee' and her husband. Renee' helps me out when I am in need of an assistant photographer and reflector holder, ha. Renee's husband is a, for lack of a better word, character (wink, wink to you, John). Anyway, I took my daughter to the session. I'm afraid that she thinks the camera revolves around her. Renee set up this shot she wanted of John, and low and behold who sneaks into the frame...my daughter, of course. The funny thing about it is that she remained very still and eyes half closed as if she were trying to hide in hopes I wouldn't notice her. Too funny! John, I think you've met your match, ha!

Ok, so I am a little behind on posting and have some catching up to do on posting some previews. Hopefully I will get a chance to post a few soon, but I do want to do an update.

I announced in a previous posting that I am no longer regularly scheduling Saturday sessions. However, I will occassionally offer a Saturday that I will schedule sessions. I will try to post those available Saturday Sessions early enough for interested clients to schedule.

August 23 is one of those Saturdays. All types of sessions, including my Around Town Senior Sessions, are available for booking on this date. The number of available sessions are limited and session fee and portrait agreement must be received within 5 days of scheduling your session or your time will be released as available. Weekend session fees apply.

I have made some policy changes that took effect June 1 that I thought I would post. Since the blogger won't let me space between paragraphs, I will number them to keep them separated.

1. I will no longer be scheduling weekend sessions. Weekends are reserved for family time and weddings. I will, however, occasionally have a Saturday Session Special that I will post on my website and/or blog. There will be a limited number of sessions held on those Saturdays, so it is recommended that you schedule your session asap.

2. Also, I am no longer offering proofs for purchase. I have not sold 4x6 prints since January 1, but I have sold session proofs as a set. What I am now offering is a Session Album. The prints in this album are not proofs, but rather finished prints that are artistically enhanced and retouched. Prints will be sized according to what is artistically appropriate for that image, but will be no larger than 4x6 and no smaller than 3.5x5. There is a portrait purchase minimum to order the Session Album.

3. Referrals...for every referral you make that completes a session, you will receive a a $25 print credit on your next session with us. Up to 4 referral credits my be redeemed at your next session. Also, your referred friend will receive a complimentary set of wallets with their portrait purchase.

4. Finally, there is a print order minimum of $50. This applies to re-orders as well.

5. On a side note, I do have a couple of Beach Session spots available over the weekend of September 19. The date is getting close, so give me a call if you are interested.

First Fish!

We spent Memorial Day weekend visiting with family on Pumpkin Creek and our daughter caught her first fish. She actually caught it and reeled it in by herself. Color us impressed. Here is S and her daddy showing off the catch of the day.

I will be in the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area the weekend of September 19th and am currently booking beach sessions around that date. Although I may be available in that area for beach sessions earlier in the summer, those dates have not been confirmed. The weekend of September 19th is set due to a wedding I am shooting. My daughter cracks me up. I took these quick shots while preparing for a session. She's a poser. Not a "poser" with the definition that is used today, but a portrait poser. I photograph my subjects in everyday life, capturing natural expressions. My daughter, however, prefers to show her skills for the camera. She sets the pose and I take the picture. If she sees me pull out my equipment, she goes into action. As she says, "Check this out."

I know some of you have been asking this. Well, I have let the blog slide....again. But I do have every good intention of keeping it updated. First of all, I would like to go ahead and offer the spring/summer special that I promised. Sessions held between now and June 30, 2008 will receive a complimentary 5x7 with a $100 portrait purchase and portrait purchases of $250 will receive a complimentary 5x7 and 8x10.

It has been quite hectic for me and will only get more so as wedding season is right upon us and 2009 seniors will be having senior portraits made throughout the summer, not to mention the wonderfully warm weather is here and perfect for family portraits. Finally.....My Website!

I have finally posted my website! It is www.aynsleygibsonphotography.com and I am soooo excited. It is not 100% functional and is still under construction, but it is there and you can link to this blog, client proofing and contact information now. I will also be posting a gallery, info and specials on the site as soon as possible. Please check back often for website updates. Many thanks to my sister for working on the site for me. We hope to have it complete soon.

Also, I am scheduling spring portraits and will be releasing a pre-spring special to the public very soon, so check back for that. I am also extending a "special" special to families at my daughter's preschool, the Children's Academy of Madison. If you are in that group, please let me know when scheduling your session.

One more thing...I am in the process of having new cards and brochures printed with up to date info (including the website address). If you would like to receive these, please let me know.

I think this was the craziest holiday season ever...with business and family both. I was so covered up with traveling with my family and photo shoots that I have completely let this blog go. I have even let the development of my website slide. I stated in my Holiday Card Special post that I would be listing prices and templates and, of course, that didn't happen. I guess that was no biggie, because those who were interested called or emailed me anyway. My up and coming website will probably be a better place for those kind of postings

I want to thank all of you who helped make Aynsley Gibson Photography such a hit this holiday season. I am now rested and ready to kick off the new year with new shoot ideas, new techniques and new specials. I am currently pulling together my spring portrait specials and am very excited to unveil some of the fun new things I have been working on.

HOLIDAY GREETING CARD SPECIALS

The holiday season is quickly approaching and I have decided to add a new element to my holiday portrait sessions. In addition to my standard 1-hour portrait session for $45, I am offering a Holiday Mini-Session. This is a 30-minute portrait session designed to provide you with custom holiday greeting cards and/or portraits. The Holiday Mini-Session is $30. With either of these sessions you will receive a complimentary 5x7 portrait with your greeting card purchase. Greeting card orders placed by November 21 will receive a 20% discount. Greeting card sizes available are 4x8, 4x5.5 folded, and 5x7 folded. Custom designed photos for card inserts are available in sizes 3.5x5, 4x5, and 4x6. Greeting cards are sold in sets of 24 and include envelopes.
